Floor Technician 

Merit Cleaning Services delivers best-in-class cleaning services within hotels, commercial offices, residential buildings as well as private residential dwellings throughout the HRM.

We are currently hiring a Floor Technician. A Floor Technician is responsible for ensuring that all floor surfaces, including carpets, tiles, vinyl, and wood floors, are well-maintained, clean, and in good condition. They perform a variety of floor care duties, including cleaning, waxing, and buffing repairing floors. 

What you will be doing:

• Sweep, mop, and scrub floors to remove dirt, stains, and debris.
• Vacuum carpets and upholstery to remove dust and dirt.
• Apply floor cleaning chemicals or treatments as necessary.
• Strip old wax from floors using specialized machines.
• Apply new wax to floor surfaces for protection and shine.
• Buff floors to restore their shine and enhance their appearance.
• Report any damaged tiles  
• Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.
• Ensure that cleaning equipment is kept in good working condition and properly cleaned after use.
• Ensure proper safety precautions are followed while handling cleaning chemicals and machinery.
• Maintain and organize cleaning supplies and equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
• Report any issues related to floor maintenance or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Perform deep cleaning tasks such as steam cleaning or carpet shampooing.
• Perform periodic floor care tasks based on specific schedules or as needed.
• Provide recommendations for specific floor treatments or repairs.
• Assist with other general cleaning tasks as required
• Such other similar and related duties as may be reasonably required by the Employer from time to time

The person we're looking for has:

• Attention to Detail: ability to spot floor damage and cleanliness issues.
• Physical Stamina: the job may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Technical Skills: familiarity with various floor care machines and cleaning solutions.
• Time Management: ability to complete tasks efficiently within a designated timeframe.
• Safety Awareness: knowledge of safe cleaning practices, including handling chemicals and machinery.

• Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or floor maintenance work is preferred
