The Accessibility Support Service Coordinator is responsible for ensuring equal access to educational opportunities for students with learning differences by securing funding and resources to support their needs. This role plays a crucial part in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment within MaKami College.
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):
- Identify various funding sources to support students with learning differences.
- Provide guidance and assistance to students in navigating the funding application process.
- Support funding applications to secure financial aid for students.
- Coordinate and submit required documents for funding, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Monitor and track the status of funding applications and work with Finance to coordinate collections.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Academic Learning Team (SALT), Faculty and other departments to identify students who require additional assistance.
- Coordinate and communicate a support plan for the provision of support services with SALT and the Faculty.
- Seek out and build strategic partnerships within the communities that MaKami operates to assist students in obtaining medical support letters for students with learning differences.
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluate the specific requirements of each students.
- Raise awareness about accessibility-related funding opportunities and services by organizing workshops and informational sessions to educate staff and students about the importance of accessibility funding and the support services available.
- Maintain accurate records of students receiving accessibility-related funding and its utilization.
- Follow up and manage a portfolio of students receiving accessibility-related funding to ensure that the service plans are effective and meet the needs of the student.
- Prepare reports and statistics to demonstrate the impact of funding on student success.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in the funding process.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to accessibility services and funding.
- Stay informed about changes in accessibility-related legislation and funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with various departments to develop and implement policies and initiatives that enhance accessibility for all students.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Education, Social Work or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing, student loan or funding applications.
- Knowledge of accessibility-related funding sources and programs.
- Familiarity with student accommodations and student support services.
- Experience in maintaining accurate records and analyzing data.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing efficient processes.
