Purpose Overview
The Sr. Financial Analyst will play a pivotal role in leveraging technology and process enhancements to streamline financial operations, reporting, and analysis. This role is responsible for implementing automated solutions to optimize accounting processes in compliance with IFRS and ASPE standards, while also driving the organization’s budgetary framework and cash management efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
- Technology-Driven Financial Operations: Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (Power Query, VBA, Macros) and automation tools (e.g., Power Automate) to enhance financial data processing, streamline workflows, and reduce manual effort.
- Revenue Recognition & System Integration: Maintain detailed records for revenue recognition across multiple revenue streams and ensure accurate recording through advanced financial systems. Develop automated processes for revenue tracking from the organizational to unit levels.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting Automation: Implement Power BI dashboards and other data visualization tools to provide timely and accurate financial insights. Aid in financial analysis using analytics tools and support the development of real-time reporting mechanisms.
- Expense Management: Oversee capital expenditures and expense management with a focus on process efficiency. Leverage financial technology for the recording, verification, and reporting of expenses. Monitor cash flow and utilize advanced tools to automate expense reporting.
- Enhanced Financial Controls & Process Improvement: Partner with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement. Design and recommend technological solutions to enhance internal controls and optimize financial workflows.
- Financial Planning & Predictive Analytics: Utilize predictive analytics to aid in financial planning, budgetary management, and variance analysis. Implement automated systems to support scenario planning and dynamic forecasting.
- Month-End & Quarterly Closing Optimization: Lead the month-end and quarterly closing process using financial automation to ensure efficient and accurate financial statement reporting.
- Fund Reconciliation & Reporting: Perform comprehensive reconciliation of all funds, ensuring alignment with accounting records and financial reports. Monitor fund activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper utilization across different accounts and departments.
- System Design & Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to assess financial processes and identify opportunities for system upgrades and workflow automation to improve accuracy and resource allocation.
Required Competencies and Experience

- CPA designation with 3-5 years of post qualification accounting experience in relevant role.
- Advanced Technological Proficiency: Expertise in Microsoft Excel (including Power Query, VBA, Macros) and automation tools (Power Automate). Experience with financial systems and process automation. Automation tools experience (Power automate will be a plus).
- Data Analytics & Reporting Skills: Strong analytical skills with experience in data processing, financial modeling, and reporting, particularly using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
- Process Improvement Mindset: Demonstrated experience in identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements through technology. Ability to recommend and execute strategies that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Innovation: Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, system design, and the adoption of best practices in financial reporting and operations
