A typical day for the Compliance and Process Specialist

 

  • Support APS’ employer compliance program, which ensures employers follow current pension plan legislation and policies
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quality program standards and procedures for the Employer Compliance Program; documentation of standards and procedures will be required
  • Identify and summarize trends in non-compliance, both from reviewing audit results and proactively seeking out areas to investigate, using a risk-based approach
  • Recommend action plans to management to address non-compliance, including but not limited to individual employer investigation and support, education initiatives, and process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain compliance information in a Microsoft Access database to ensure accurate reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist internal teams by identifying specific issues that have arisen through the compliance process and ensuring teams are updated on compliance trends and issues
  • Support and document the administration of new employers and employer withdrawals 
  • Suggest improvements or changes to the employer compliance program and its processes to make it efficient and effective
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with employers to ensure high client satisfaction

 

What you bring

 

  • University degree with 2 years of directly related experience
  • Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of education on a one-for-one basis
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Access is required
  • Knowledge of pension legislation and policies is preferred
  • Accounting or auditing experience or education is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including strong presentation and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Client Service and interpersonal skills
