Real Estate Services provides comprehensive property management services for government owned and leased properties, offering end-to-end real estate accommodation options to client ministries to ensure safe and secure operations through asset management, capital planning, and project management solutions. It also provides strategic asset planning services to MOI to maximize the value of government assets through portfolio planning and rationalization. IO currently oversees the management of the Greater Real Estate Portfolio (GREP) comprised of more than 42 million rentable square feet of space on behalf of the Province.

Our Real Estate division manages the province’s portfolio of government buildings and land, which is one of the largest and most diverse in the country. We oversee the day-to-day operations, long-term maintenance, and lead the execution of future strategy for these facilities through partnerships with private-sector Service Providers, the client users and internally across IO. We are responsible for ensuring provincially owned real estate is being used in the best, most optimal way. Finding innovative ways to reduce and revitalize the government’s building and land holdings is central to our business and integral to the value we provide Ontarians.

 

We are currently looking for a Portfolio Real Estate Manager to provide leadership and real estate expertise in the development and implementation of asset management, capital investment, budget and financial management programs and initiatives, for an assigned portfolio of Province's Real Estate assets.

 

 

Work Location Options:  This position offers flexibility to work from any of our 3 established office locations in Toronto, Kingston and Ottawa.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Accountable for fostering and promoting strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop the best use of government assets.
  • Accountable for the implementation of cost-effective and sustainable facility and asset management solutions.
  • Provide leadership, oversight and guidance for our Service Provider responsible for the execution of all property management services and solutions, including during escalated issues that require reporting to Ministry and/or IO Senior Management.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with ministry clients to understand their real estate needs, and to develop strategies to align those needs with use of the government assets.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • The successful candidate should have a minimum of seven years experience in directly managing large multi-property portfolios, or equivalent time working in a real estate organization in a role adjacent to building operations, commercial leasing, and/or asset management.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Facility Management with a concentration in property management, building operations, and/or leasing (or equivalent) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with construction project management is an asset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of property management as a business, including leasing, property maintenance, outsourcing models, tenant relations, and reporting.
  • Possession sound strategic planning skills, and solid understanding of infrastructure and property management issues, trends and solutions within public and private sectors.
  • Experience in financial management and business planning, an ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment in a sensitive environment, and the aptitude to identify problems, analyze and interpret data to make recommendations.
  • Well-developed skills in negotiation, problem solving, leadership, and the ability to influence outcomes to resolve issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment is a must.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite Office Products is required. Experience with use of an Asset Management Information System (AMIS) is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in the preparation of briefing notes, business cases, and other corporate reporting is an asset.
  • A designation recognized by recognized by REIC, IFMA or BOMA (ex. CPM, CFM, RPA, etc.) is an asset.

We offer a competitive salary range of $99,800 to $149,700 (PM5 level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
