Every day, our 150 lifeguards, as well as our swimming instructors, help provide our clients with safe and high-quality swimming lessons. The YMCAs of Quebec offer one of the largest selections of swimming lessons and aquatic activities in the province, tailored to all needs and all types of swimmers.

Aquatic Supervisor

Reporting to the Aquatic Activities Coordinator, the Aquatic Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of swimming lessons. They work closely with their supervisor and other aquatic supervisors to oversee and support swimming instructors. In this role, they perform various administrative tasks, ensure the excellence of services provided, and uphold the standards of the aquatic sector.

The challenge we offer you

  • Assist the Coordinator in recruiting, training, and supervising aquatic staff.
  • Follow up on comments and/or concerns received from clients and employees.
  • Collaborate to fill unexpected absences and find replacement solutions when needed.
  • Act as a role model for aquatic staff and ensure the quality of team members' skills.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, children, and the center’s clientele.
  • Support the Coordinator in leading and coaching a team of swimming instructors.
  • Supervise and evaluate children's swimming lessons.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures regarding the protection of children and vulnerable persons.
  • Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy into the role and the Association, participating in fundraising activities/events.

The person we are looking for

  • Hold a valid National Lifeguard certification from the Lifesaving Society.
  • Hold a valid CPR-AED Level C or General First Aid certification.
  • Hold a YMCA or Lifesaving Society Swimming Instructor certification.
  • Possess lifesaving certifications and/or other aquatic sector qualifications (an asset).
  • Have 3 years of experience as a swimming instructor and in customer service.
  • Have experience in staff management (an asset).
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Be able to work in both official languages.
  • Have no criminal record related to the position.
