Levitt-Safety is seeking skilled and Journeyman HVAC Mechanics to join our team in Fort McMurray, AB. We are looking for individuals with hands-on HVAC experience, ideally with a background in maintaining mobile equipment. 
 
This role offers a highly desirable compressed work schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off, with 12-hour shifts. We provide company-paid housing for fly-in/fly-out employees or a monthly housing allowance for local employees.

Main Responsibilities

As a key member of our field service team, you will:

  • Inspect, service and maintain HVAC equipment and systems for optimal performance. This includes mobile HVAC systems on heavy-duty industrial and off-road equipment.
  • Respond to service calls, repair components promptly, and maintain documentation for compliance and customer communication.
  • Utilize your troubleshooting skills and share your knowledge and experience to deliver timely and effective solutions.
  • Maintain a customer-focused mindset and proactively seek solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Manage and maintain service vehicle inventory, proactively addressing customer needs and minimizing downtime.
  • Cross-train and support the inspection, service, and installation of vehicle fire suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers.
  • Provide in-shop support and contribute to overall team operations when needed.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by completing all required inspections, certifications, and adhering to company safety policies.
  • Flexibly in performing additional duties as required, including supporting  our other branches across Canada.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years' experience with HVAC systems in mobile and/or industrial settings and proven ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain such systems. 
  • Valid Red Seal certification (Journeyman) in any of the following trades: HVAC, Automotive services, Heavy equipment or Truck and trailer. 
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptable and able to respond effectively to changes and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Computer savvy and comfortable using iPads, tablets to complete online reports etc. 
  • Previous fire equipment servicing experience is an asset.
  • The ability to pass pre-employment and periodic pre-access drug & alcohol testing as per customer site requirements and a valid clean driver's abstract. 

 

Safety Compliance

In this physically demanding role, the successful candidate must be:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, coupled with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Work in restricted spaces such as engine compartments
  • Work on heights on large mine equipment using ladders and walkways
  • Driving and sitting for extended periods of time
  • Frequent walking on uneven terrain on customer sites
  • Professional, reliable and safety-focused

 

You will support a strong safety culture and service team by being a part of regular safety meetings, ensuring adherence to safe work practices, and proactively identifying and addressing hazards. This role models safe behavior, works closely with the Quality team to uphold service standards and contributes to incident prevention and continuous improvement in safety performance.
