Role Overiew:

McElhanney is seeking a highly organized and analytical professional to join our IT team as an IT Asset Management (ITAM) Lead & Business Analyst.  This hybrid role is responsible for overseeing the entire asset lifecycle and supporting IT operations through business analysis.  This position ensures compliance, security, and financial oversight of IT assets, while optimizing inventory management and forecasting.   

This position requires strong financial acumen, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and experienced in IT asset governance within a structured enterprise environment.  This position will report to the Senior Manager of Infrastructure and IT Operations with a matrix relationship to the Contract Management Lead.    

This role is based in Vancouver, BC. 

  

What You’ll be doing: 

  • IT Asset Lifecycle Management & Service Management 
  • Own and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of hardware and software assets, from procurement, deployment, and utilization to retirement and disposal. 
  • Develop and implement IT asset policies, processes, and governance frameworks aligned with ITIL, IAITAM, and ISO best practices. 
  • Ensure IT asset compliance, including license agreements, security policies, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Oversee inventory management to maintain accurate tracking, auditing, and forecasting of IT assets across the organization. 
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, the contract manager, and IT teams to track asset acquisition, deployment, usage and retirement. Implement and manage ITAM tools and systems for accurate inventory and reporting. 
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliation of IT assets  
  • Optimize asset utilization and reduce costs through effective asset tracking and forecasting.  
  • Work closely with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Vendor Management, and Finance teams to ensure seamless IT asset operations. 
  • Business Analysis  
  • Gather, document, and analyze business requirements from stakeholders across departments 
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications for IT functions  

 

  • Vendor and Financial Management  
  • Lead IT asset budget planning, forecasting, and cost analysis to ensure effective financial management. 
  • Optimize hardware and software investments by identifying cost-saving opportunities in vendor contracts, renewals, and license management. 
  • Work closely with the contract specialist on strategic sourcing and vendor performance compliance.  
  • Strong experience establishing SLAs and KPIs for performance management 
  • Presentation, Communication & Stakeholder Engagement 
  • Deliver high-impact presentations and reports for senior stakeholders, including IT leadership  
  • Effective verbal and written communication with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business language.  

 

What You’ll bring: 

  • Technical & Professional Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, finance with a specialization in procurement and strategic sourcing or a related field.  
  • 8 -10 years of IT asset management and service management experience in a structured enterprise IT environment. 
  • Industry certifications in ITIL, IAITAM (CAMP, CSAM, CITAM, etc), ISO 19770, or related areas. 
  • Experience using, configuring, and implementing ITAM tools like ServiceNow, Ivanti and ZenDesk.   
  • Experience working with datasets from multiple sources, financial reporting, and cost analysis. 

 

  • Skills/Attributes: 
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with experience managing IT budgets and cost optimization. 
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare executive-level reports and presentations. 
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders. 
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify and mitigate asset-related risks. 

 

What Can We Offer You? 

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
