The Opportunity:

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team. We would prefer the successful candidate to be based out of any one of our British Columbia offices, however, considerations may be made for the ideal candidate. 

In this role, you will develop skills and collaborate on a variety of projects in different sectors including street lighting and traffic signalization; residential and commercial land development; water / wastewater treatment plants, lift / pump stations; commercial, municipal, government and industrial building projects. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assist in the production of electrical designs on a variety of projects. This role is designated as a safety sensitive position and completion of a pre-employment drug & alcohol and fitness for work testing is required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist in the production of electrical designs and drawings that meet client requirements and standards
  • Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into electrical designs, plans, and project informational requirements, using primarily AutoCAD and Revit, as well as other technical software as needed
  • Coordinate the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates and tender documents
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved
  • Identify field and design issues and facilitate corrective measures
  • Liaise with the contractor, client, and affected stakeholders during construction operations
  • Actively champion safety to ensure you think safe, work safe, and get home safe

What You’ll Bring:

  • A passion to grow your electrical engineering career and to apply your knowledge through hands-on design
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or Red Seal Electrician with minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering design related role
  • Working knowledge of or proficiency in AutoCAD Software
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written); ability to produce accurate field notes
  • Ability to showcase curiosity, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $71,000 – 91,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
