Opportunity:

 

McElhanney Ltd. is calling on passionate and curious Engineers-in-Training to help us strengthen infrastructure in Indigenous communities. This is more than just an engineering role—it's a unique opportunity to connect directly with communities, support local housing and infrastructure development, and see your work create visible, lasting impact. You’ll gain hands-on experience across water, wastewater, and community infrastructure design, all while learning under the mentorship of experienced Professional Engineers registered in BC.  

 

While not exclusively dedicated to Indigenous Community work, this role would place an emphasis on this area. The successful candidate will be part of our Kamloops Branch and will be based in, or willing to relocate to Kamloops.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Community Focus: Build trusted relationships with Indigenous communities through meaningful engagement and consistent follow-through.
  • Infrastructure assessments: Support infrastructure assessments that help identify and prioritize the needs of local communities.
  • Field Inspections: Participate in field inspections and site reviews—get your boots dirty and learn by doing.
  • Collaborative Project Delivery: Work on impactful projects from concept through completion, collaborating with internal teams in geomatics, geotech, structures, and more.
  • Design and Reporting: Contribute to designs and technical reports for water/, wastewater and other community infrastructure as well as supporting funding applications that help turn community goals into funded projects.

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Registration in good standing as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered

Compensation and Perks at a Glance:

 

McElhanney offers competitive compensation ranging from $70,000 to $90,000 per annum, tailored to match individual qualifications. The base salary/wage range listed in the job posting reflects the necessary qualifications and experience for the position, with final compensation determined by the successful candidate’s qualifications.
