The Opportunity
McElhanney Ltd. has an opportunity for a Junior Civil Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide innovative and integrated consulting services to our public and private sector clients. This role is designated as a safety-sensitive position and completion of a pre-employment drug & alcohol and fitness for work testing is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide design support for various infrastructure and land development projects including municipal engineering, road works, utility and facility upgrades
- Assist in the preparation of approval, tender and contract documents
- Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed
- Prepare and adhere to site-specific health and safety plans
- Opportunity to provide support to other departments (survey, municipal, environmental engineering) to learn about and develop a holistic approach to project execution
- Work with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained
What You’ll Bring
- 2–5 years of relevant experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
- Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in good standing in BC or Alberta
- Proficient in technical writing; experience with construction administration documents and small proposals
- Construction inspection field experience required; materials testing is an asset
- Skilled in Civil 3D, including corridor and surface modeling to understand and execute the creation of survey data into existing ground surfaces
- Familiar with design concepts such as alignments, profiles, grading tools, and assemblies
- Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data using GIS software
- Valid driver’s license
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
