The Position:
Neelands Group Limited is searching for a Construction Refrigeration Term 3 313A Apprentice to join our team at the Burlington, Ontario location. This is a regular, full-time union position with a full union compensation package.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately measure and layout plan for refrigeration system installation in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Assemble and install commercial refrigeration or cold storage units, including walk-in coolers/freezers and rack systems.
- Installation of refrigeration lines
- Carefully read and interpret blueprints to ensure proper specifications
- Measure, cut, and connect pipe to components and refrigeration systems using welding and brazing equipment
- Assist in the commissioning and start-up of refrigeration systems.
- Ensure the necessary materials required for the project are on hand and readily available
- Handle, store, recover, and charge refrigerants safely in accordance with environmental and safety regulations
- Safely perform pressure test once pipework is complete to test for leaks
- Repair and alter pressure system if leak or damage is found
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite, adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues (mechanical and electrical) under guidance or independently.
- Support journeypersons in various installation and commissioning tasks.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Registered 3rd year refrigeration apprentice
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in supermarket or commercial refrigeration installation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Valid G license with a clean driver abstract
- Ability to travel when required
- Familiarity with CO₂ refrigeration systems is considered an asset.
