Estimating Manager (18-Month Contract)

The Estimating Manager will oversee the estimating of glazing projects, including Window Wall, Curtain Wall, Railings, and Cladding Systems. This role involves close collaboration with estimators and direct reporting to the Director of Estimating. 

Education 

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology and Construction Management; and 
  • Construction Estimation Certification is an asset. 

Years of Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience within Estimating Glazing (Window Wall, Curtain Wall, Railings, and Cladding).

Senior Level 

  • This role is supportive, where the incumbent acts as a liaison by communicating with the Director of Estimating, Estimators and other internal departments in organizing and coordinating or assisting with the coordination of all aspects of a projects; 
  • Experience working on large projects and meeting deadlines; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and Estimating Software; 
  • Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and landscape drawings; 
  • Communicate with clients via email/phone as required; and
  • Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment.  

Job Specific Duties 

  • Collaborate closely with the Estimators to ensure project timelines are met; 
  • Provide guidance to the Estimators throughout the project lifecycle and conduct both kick-off and close-out meetings for projects; 
  • May be required to prepare quantity take-offs and estimates; 
  • Review drawings, specifications, scope of work, reports and other applicable documentations; 
  • Create, review, submit bid proposals; 
  • Prepare Request for Information (RFI); 
  • Obtain and review supplier quotes; 
  • Create price matrix for each project as required; 
  • Attend internal scope of work meetings with Engineering, Project Teams and Estimating Team; 
  • Note discrepancies in the tender information and bring to the attention of Management for discussion; and
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Director of Estimating.
