VMAC has an opening for Quality Assurance Technician. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of VMAC product quality and strategic improvement initiatives. In this role, you will ensure product quality standards are maintained and that the systems and processes used in making the products are continuously improved. You will work under minimal supervision to evaluate, prioritize, and apply solutions to various quality and manufacturing issues.
Responsibilities:
Quality Control and In-Process Technical Activities
- Ensure tooling, jigs, fixtures, equipment, and drawings are utilized in meeting specification and providing confidence to the measurement system.
- Minimizes inspection errors by conducting review of inspection programs and perform periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Review CMM programming and inspection of parts in accordance with approved procedures.
- Utilize CMM data/output to identify and resolve problems, prevent and reduce variation.
- Conduct detailed drawing review for effective part verification.
- Perform gage R&R and capability studies to determine measurement system acceptance and process stability.
Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Analysis
- Inspection – incoming vendor parts, final assemblies (kits), first article inspections of vendor/VMAC manufactured parts, and ensuring documentation for vendor parts related to inspection is available.
- Inspect and audit all components and stages of the manufacturing process to ensure conformity to standards.
- Develop appropriate quality inspection plans for incoming inspections in collaboration with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE).
- Coordinate the evaluation of less complex purchased parts through the FAI/PPAP process and monitor supplier performance via deviations, incoming inspections, and audits.
- Investigate internal quality issues by facilitating cross-functional issue resolution sessions, including problem identification, root cause analysis, solution development, and outcome monitoring.
- Evaluate quality assurance processes, including scrap, rework, and quarantine, to identify improvement opportunities.
Quality System and Process Management
- Perform various types of quality inspections, audits (product, process, or system).
- Contribute to manufacturing process qualification and improvement opportunities by monitoring solutions.
- Review and manage the disposition of nonconforming materials and determine issue resolution.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated, validated and maintained properly during operation life of equipment.
Electrical and Electronics Quality Control
- Assist electrical engineers with identifying inconsistencies, faults and finding the cause of electrical and electronics components.
- Identify solutions to technical design and manufacturing problems that arise in making electrical and electronics components.
- Inspect components for adherence to specification and functional requirements, report findings, and recommend changes, if necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Technology diploma from post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 4 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years CMM programming and operation experience considered an asset.
- Experience in reading engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of electrical and electronic applications.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
