Building Operator

The Building Operator is primarily responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance projects, preventative maintenance tasks, tenant work orders and other operational duties as assigned on the various commercial sites. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the properties are well maintained and managed in accordance with guidelines.
  • Responsible for completion of projects as required/requested by the Operations Manager. Assist operations personnel, as required. 
  • Identify and rectify any general maintenance issues on the properties such as overhead doors checked for proper operation, repairing doors, light bulb replacement, painting, roofing issues, and sewer back-ups. 
  • Regular inspections of properties for vandalism and graffiti; removal as required.
  • Regular checks for lighting and prompt replacement of any bulbs that are burnt out.
  • Coordinate contractor access and work in conjunction with contractors to complete various tasks.
  • On-call for after hours emergencies, on rotation.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, building automation systems, plumbing, preventive maintenance and fire codes/ability to read blueprints.
  • Identify and rectify general maintenance issues.
  • Prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Record monthly utility meter readings.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety standards and legislation guidelines.

Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • Two to five years of relevant experience.
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate. (Will consider 3rd or 5th class)
  • Energetic, positive attitude.
  • Physically fit, ability to lift, carry or move heavy items.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle required (prefer truck for ease of moving equipment/tools)
  • Available for on-call emergencies.
  • Must be able to work efficiently and independently.
  • Highly organized, results-oriented, and able to work in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Security clearance is required upon offer of employment.
