Financial Analyst / Accountant

The Finance Department is currently seeking an Accountant/Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Accounting and Analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting controllership functions, as well as completing various full-cycle accounting tasks, financial analyses, and reporting. This role ensures the timely and accurate delivery of critical financial processes.

In this role, the successful candidate will:
- Support the implementation and configuration of a new payroll system, including data migration, testing, and process optimization.
- Collaborate with HR to enhance payroll system functionalities and drive efficiencies.
- Process payroll to ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time, ensure compliance with current tax regulations, governmental laws and company policies.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Support year-end audit activities by preparing process narratives, financial reports, and transaction schedules.
- Collaborate with IT on asset management and system reconciliations, including asset disposals.
- Provide financial support for ongoing business operations, employee matters, and special projects, including the budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Oversee contract and purchase order management, ensuring timely processing and oversight of the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay cycle.
- Contribute to financial system administration and support ongoing system initiatives.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations and reporting efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. CPA designation (completed or in final stages) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience as an Accountant or Financial Analyst in a full-cycle accounting and finance environment.
- Payroll expertise including hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce, with strong capabilities in managing payroll accounting, reconciliation processes, and system integrations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., IFRS) and auditing standards, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in financial ERP systems and advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, investigate discrepancies, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights.
- A proactive mindset with a strong desire to take ownership of deliverables and projects from initiation to completion, continuously seeking improvements.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while consistently meeting deadlines and business objectives.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and translate financial insights into strategic business recommendations.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot financial issues, assess risks, and make sound decisions that effectively support business operations.

This position currently offers a hybrid work location. iGaming Ontario has implemented a minimum three-day per week in-office schedule. iGaming Ontario reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.
This position falls within the scope of a bargaining unit represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). In the upcoming months, iGaming Ontario and OPSEU will be negotiating the terms of a collective agreement which, once concluded, will govern the terms and conditions of this position.
