What You Will Do:
- Studio Operations: Oversee full-cycle design studio operations, including project scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of contract documentation. Maintain organized records for all projects, including architectural standards, templates, and change documentation.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 5–10 multidisciplinary design professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Provide regular feedback and professional development support.
- Design Oversight: Review design documentation for quality and technical accuracy. Monitor project progress, ensure adherence to architectural standards, and guide team members through each phase—from kickoff to final deliverables.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with executives, construction teams, purchasing, and development stakeholders to align design outputs with broader project goals and timelines.
- BIM Management: Lead the implementation and maintenance of BIM standards and workflows across projects. Ensure consistency and quality in Revit models and related tools.
- Technology & Innovation: Stay current with design technology trends, recommending and integrating tools that improve productivity and quality within the studio.
- Reporting & Alignment: Provide weekly project updates and performance reports to the Director of Engineering and Design, ensuring clear communication of project health and studio metrics.
- Process Optimization: Evaluate current studio workflows and contribute to the development and documentation of process improvements that drive efficiency, enhance quality, and facilitate creative excellence.
- Coordination with Architects: Work closely with the project architects to deliver drafting services and contract documents. Help ensure architectural standards and typical details are reflected in contract documents and applied consistently across all projects.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an architectural firm
- At least 2 years of experience in a team management or leadership role
- Proficiency in BIM software, particularly Revit; familiarity with tools such as NavisWorks and ArchiCAD
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of detail and accuracy
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Architectural accreditation in a Canadian jurisdiction
- Advanced degree in Architecture or a related field
- Certifications in BIM or related digital design platforms
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate team members in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
