Shift Hours: Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 7:00am-5:00pm, Monday 6:00am-4:00pm
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to manage and supervise the staff in U.S./Western Canada Operations on the weekend shift, including part time customs staff. This includes evaluations, performance appraisals, communication, etc. Schedule employee shifts, holidays, monitor sick days, time off, performance via yearly performance appraisals etc. Assist in the hiring of staff.
- Dispatch drivers by seniority, with direction and input from the Lead Planners of each of the International Boards.
- Establish routing based on contract requirements and update as needed.
- Knowledge of all International Boards and transportation requirements for freight movements between Canada and the United States including U.S. and Canada Customs and supporting agencies (FDA, USDA, Agriculture Canada, etc.)
- Daily review of fleet personnel to ensure proper allocation of human resources and equipment in order to maximize operational efficiencies.
- Liaise with other operating locations to maximize equipment efficiency and utilization
- Respond to queries from employees and customers regarding service issues.
- Assist drivers with inquiries when required. Work in conjunction with Driver Supervisors in dealing with driver issues.
- Co-ordinate with shop for equipment repairs at all terminals.
- Assist in answering department questions, customer calls, and other Erb department inquiries. Communicate regularly with Fleet Managers, Directors and department personnel.
- Assist Fleet Managers and Directors of U.S./Western Canada Operations as required. Recommend changes to operations and follow through with any changes implemented.
- Prepare Dispatch shift notes from weekend activity. Email Lead Planners with any changes that may occur.
- Fill in for vacation when required.
- All other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Positive attitude with proven people skills. Ability to be fair but firm with staff and customers.
- Honest, diplomatic and trustworthy.
- Excellent communication skills, verbally and written. Ability to provide praise and constructive criticism.
- Strong desire for continuous positive change.

- Ability to remain calm in demanding times.
- Computer skills specifically dispatch screens. Fluent in Windows and spreadsheet-based programs.
- Time management skills.
- Organizational skills including planning and scheduling skills.
- Understanding of dock procedures, and paper flow as it relates to the operation.
- Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and hours of service logs.
- Knowledge of maintaining costs as it relates to operational profitability.
- Ability to cover for most positions in the operational area.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Salary based on a 45-hour work week.
- May be required to work additional hours due to operational needs.
