Shift Details: Friday-Monday; 6:00am-4:00pm
SUMMARY
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the day-to-day operation of the Administration and OS&D departments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision of paperwork flow and office staff during the day shift.
- Provide leadership and training to current and new employees.
- Responsible for completing performance appraisals, discipline conversations, as well as assist with hiring and termination decisions.
- Provide detailed orientation to new employees specific to their new role.
- Complete vacation scheduling, approve leave of absence requests and provide vacation or leave of absence coverage as required.
- Monitor team workload and approve overtime as required.
- Maintain KPI’s as corporately directed for document processing and supporting paperwork process as it pertains to the operation.
- Prepare daily KPI reporting.
- Coordinate workflow with other shifts and departments.
- Maintain constant communication with Dispatchers and Customer Service regarding missed pickups.
- Monitor and track freight bills that require special instructions and update as necessary.
- Complete pro-active performance conversations and coaching for employee development.
- Clear understanding of all duties performed by OS&D and administration departments.
- Ensure safe working environment and that any safety concerns are reported and addressed.
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette while answering and prioritizing calls.
- Print bills of lading and manifests of loads for check-in, attach pro-bill stickers, route and scan bills of lading.
- All other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Six (6) months of experience equivalent to the job description or previous experience in the transportation industry required.
- Excellent communication skills while dealing with team members, customers and drivers required.
- Able to maintain smooth flow of communication, directions and paper flow.
- Strong keyboard skills, accuracy, knowledge of shipping documents, organizational skills preferred.
- Experience with AS400, Microsoft Office, Truckmate preferred.
- Resourceful and capable of multi-tasking.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Salary based on a 45-hour work week.
- May be required to work additional hours due to operational needs.
